About AIU
The Association of Indian Universities is an Apex Advisory Body on Higher Education mandated by the Ministry of Education, to determine the equivalence of foreign degrees and conduct of Youth Affairs; Sports Activities in Higher Education Sector in India. At present, AIU has about 1028 member Universities (Central, Institute of National Importance, State and Private Universities), including 18 overseas Universities, and is serving the Higher Education Sector for the last 99 years. Many national luminaries have served this organization in different capacities, and the most prominent examples are Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Dr. ZakirHussain, and Dr.Syama Prasad Mukherjee who have served as Presidents of AIU. The organization has worked as an intellectual resource of the country and has contributed to the policy processes of the government and its agencies AIU has been annually organizing the Inter University Youth Festivals (UNIFESTS) since 1985 at the Zonal and National level where a large number of youth artiste from member Universities and its about 45000 affiliated colleges to participate. These festivals play a significant role in promoting in our youth, a pride of Indian culture and an awareness of youth identity. AIU is the only nodal agency in the entire country for organizing the Inter University Youth Programs for about 40 million youth students of the Higher Education Sector in India. Also, this is the only establishment where the above-cited youth programs can be conceptualized and implemented for the students of the Zonal, National as well as international level. In continuation of our endeavours and addition to the above- mentioned youth festivals, the AIU has launched the organization of Asian University Youth Festival (AUFEST), International Youth Festival, National Women Student Parliament, National Moot Court Competition, National Adventure/Tracking Camp and National Qawwali Competition etc. From last session, AIU has earmarked the entire country in eight zones for the smooth conduct of Youth Affairs Programs.
About CHRIST (Deemed to be University)
CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationist and social reformer of the nineteenth century in South India. He founded the first Catholic indigenous congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831, which administers CHRIST (Deemed to be University). Established in 1969 as Christ College, it undertook path-breaking initiatives in Indian higher education with the introduction of innovative and modern curricula, insistence on academic discipline, imparting of Holistic Education, and adoption of global higher education practices with the support of creative and dedicated staff. The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India conferred Autonomy to Christ College in 2004 and identified it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 2006. In 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India, declared the institution a DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY, in the name and style of Christ University. One of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Government of India, and subsequently in 2004, 2016, 2022 CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is currently accredited with ‘A+’ Grade.
The multi-disciplinary University which focuses on teaching, research and service offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programmes in humanities, social sciences, sciences, commerce, management, engineering, architecture, education, and law to about 30000 students. The University offers its programmes at four campus locations in Bangalore in Karnataka, at Lavasa in Pune in Maharashtra, and Ghaziabad in Delhi NCR. The campus is a living example of harmonious multiculturalism with students from all the states and union territories and around 60 different countries. A promoter of sports, music and literary activities, all its campuses are a nurturing ground for creative excellence.
About CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bangalore Kengeri Campus
Kengeri Campus is a lush green land of 78.5 acres situated about 25 kilometers away from the CENTRAL CAMPUS, 10 kilometers away from Bangalore University and 8 kilometers away from RV College of Engineering towards Mysore Road. This campus houses School of Engineering and Technology, School of Business and Management, School of Architecture, School of Psychological Sciences and Christ PU College – Residential. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) School of Engineering and Technology (SoET) was started in 14th September 2009 to promote quality Technical Education in Engineering. SoET is a unique and fastest-growing school that equips students and scholars with the skills and competencies necessary to navigate the complexities of today’s dynamic world. The school offers a wide range of programmes approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and National Board for Accreditation (NBA) through a blend of project-based and multidisciplinary curricula in emerging technologies including Honors and Minors in AI&ML, Psychology, CIMA, Management, Geomatics, and Architecture.
